Frequently asked questions

OnlineDoctor is a teledermatology platform for online consultations, developed specifically to meet the needs of specialist physicians. People with a skin conditions can choose a specialist in dermatology and venereology regardless of location. Within 48 hours, they receive a specialist diagnosis and treatment recommendations based on submitted images and additional information provided via an interactive chat assistant.

To register and create an individual profile on onlinedoctor.ch, OnlineDoctor requires the following information and documentation (in group practices, from each participating physician):

  • Practice address and contact details (mobile phone number and email address)
  • Copy of your specialist certificate
  • A frontal, sharp, high-resolution portrait photo (can be taken with a smartphone)
  • Billing information
  • Indication of whether you work independently or are employed
    • Bank details (IBAN – your own or your employer’s)
    • GLN number
    • ZSR number
      • You may submit the ZSR number of the practice where you work together with confirmation from the practice owner in the form of a completed and signed document (which we are happy to provide upon request).
      • Alternatively, you may provide the practice’s ZSR number and the practice’s bank details if the remuneration is to be paid into the practice account.
      • As a dermatologist, you may also apply for your own ZSR number. We are happy to support you with this process and will cover the costs for registering the ZSR with SASIS. In this case, we do not require the practice’s ZSR number.

From January 2026, asynchronous telemedical consultations provided via OnlineDoctor will be billed through TARDOC. The basic health insurance covers the costs of the digital consultation via OnlineDoctor, depending on the insurance model and deductible.

As medical reporting is billed to the minute, the switch to TARDOC means there is no longer a fixed price per case.

Below are some example calculations (based on a tax point value of 0.9). During case processing, you can also directly see how much will be billed to the patient. Please note that OnlineDoctor continues to retain a flat fee of CHF 25 per case from the billed amount.

This means, for example, that with a case processing time of 15 minutes and a tax point value of 0.9, you issue an invoice of CHF 67.39 and earn CHF 42.39 — CHF 12.39 more than before.

  • 5 minutes = CHF 32.83
  • 10 minutes = CHF 50.11
  • 12 minutes = CHF 57.02
  • 15 minutes = CHF 67.39
  • 20 minutes = CHF 84.67

No. OnlineDoctor handles the entire payment and billing process with patients. You only indicate how many minutes you spent on the case. In your OnlineDoctor Doctor Center, you can view the resulting case invoices per case at any time and for your own documentation.

No. Passing the specialist examination is mandatory for quality assurance.

In your OnlineDoctor Doctor Center, you can easily set your case answering preferences with just a few clicks. If you are on vacation or do not wish to answer cases on Sundays, for example, then an absence notice can appear on your profile. Once a notice is set, patients will not be able to submit cases to you during those periods.

The volume of inquiries varies depending on how strongly you choose to integrate OnlineDoctor into your practice. You decide when and how to promote online consultations within your practice. In addition, your medical practice assistants play a key role in communicating OnlineDoctor to your patient network. As a result, the case volume can vary individually and depends on factors such as the practice location.

Whether teledermatology activities must be reported to your professional liability insurer depends on the specific terms and conditions of your insurance policy. We recommend checking directly with your liability insurer.

Predefined text templates allow you to quickly provide comprehensive information on diagnoses and treatment recommendations to patients. In addition to these templates, you can create and save your own customized text modules for repeated use.

No. You are not required to reserve short-notice appointments for OnlineDoctor patients. Even if you are currently not accepting new in-person patients, you can still process digital cases via OnlineDoctor.

OnlineDoctor can only be used in connection with a medical practice — regardless of whether you are self-employed or employed. A valid and active ZSR number is required (for employed physicians, the ZSR number of the institution).
